Our Story
Every night, thousands of people in our cities go to sleep without a place to call home.
Homelessness is the loss of security, opportunity, and belonging. It comes about as a result of the system that leaves people behind and does not help them recover.
After seeing firsthand how often those experiencing homelessness are misrepresented or ignored, our founding members realized something needed to change. And a change in mindset comes with a change in understanding.
So Shelter Stories was created to challenge the stereotypes surrounding homelessness and instill empathy amongst young people today.
From blogs, podcasts, and community projects, we seek to build a platform where stories and awareness turn into compassion and change.
Everyone deserves to be seen, and everyone deserves to have a place to call home.
